Gradient Sports Expands Player Grades and Event Data Coverage to Europe’s Top 5 Leagues

At Gradient Sports, we are committed to providing the most detailed and accurate insights in football. After spending the 2024/2025 season working with some of the Premier Leagues top clubs to develop our grades, we are expanding our player grading system and event data coverage from the Premier League to all of Europe’s Top 5 Leagues for the 2025/26 season and beyond.
Our player grades evaluate every event, both on and off the ball, with a team of industry veterans and experts reviewing every action that takes place during a match, grading it on a scale from -2 to +2 in increments of 0.5. A score of 0 represents a player performing at the expected level, while positive and negative scores capture moments that go above or below expectation. These grades are then converted into a 30–100 scale at both the game and season levels, making it simple to compare players across leagues, positions, and contexts.

We believe this level of detail matters now more than ever. According to Transfermarkt, Europe’s Top 5 leagues recorded over €6.95 billion euros in transfer expenditure during the 2025/26 window. With such vast resources being invested in player recruitment, having the right data and tools to guide decisions is essential. By expanding our coverage, we aim to give clubs and analysts the knowledge they need to reduce recruitment risk, build stronger models, and enhance internal coaching and analysis processes.
As our Head of Growth, James Clarke-Reed, explains:
“Gradient Sports has the most detailed event data in global football before we even mention our player grades. The growth to the top 5 European Leagues is not only a sign of things to come but also allows more teams to experience this unique data set. This increase in coverage will allow teams to build the best models and reduce recruitment risk level in player trading, whilst also bolstering internal coaching tools and analysis.”
This expansion is an exciting milestone for us and for the teams we work with. It represents our continued mission to bring unmatched accuracy, context, and depth to football analysis at the highest level of the game.
